car search is over...
Last week I started to look for a car because I need to return the gas-muncher explorer already. hehehe. I consulted my batchmates here and told me to get a toyota or civic because it easy to maintain, low gas consumption, can last longer. I have several prospect from the ads listed in http://www.craigslist.org. Some are Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Acura Integra. Prices range from from 2800-4000 and they were sold right away after 1-3 days.
Last Sunday, after church, I decided to check on one car, Acura Integra 1994, with 188,000 miles. The exterior of the car is okay but when I checked inside the car it was like a jungle, dirty, don't have cloth/covering above the ceiling. When I saw that I didn't bother to check the engine and take it for a test drive. I was thinking of getting from a dealer and my friend would help me apply for a loan. So browsing still on the net I was checking on a Mitsubishi Eclispe that cost around 8000-9000 from a dealer.
Last monday, I saw 2 ads of Nissan Sentra 1997 model. One is manual transmission with 118,000 miles and one is automatic with 93,000 miles. I called both owners to ask more information about the car and later that afternoon I was able to check one of them. I asked the owner why he is selling the car and he told me that he is getting a divorce. It was clean, well maintained and was driven by her wife. No rust, engine is clean, air-con is strong, everything works fine from lights to wiper to windows. Took it for a test drive. Everything is OK... =)
Yesterday, I took it for a smog check, which is required for transfering the title of the car, and it passed and it is in a good condition and I also took it for a car wash.
Good thing I didn't get a loan to get from a dealer at least I don't have monthly payments.
